What she mean by previous display port version? Does her explanation mean that certain devices do not have to have Thunderbolt ports only mini display ports to plug ihnto the thunderbolt port?
I think she's saying that objects with mini-display ports won't suddenly change into a thunderbolt port, when you connect it to an iMac. They'll still only be able to carry video.

The Mac Mini, iMac and Macbooks will all be updated some time soon. The Mac Mini and Macbook will get Core i3 @2.1GHz, with the Intel HD 3000 GPU. iMacs will have a base model with Core i5. The Mini and Macbook will be far more powerful than they are now - the Core 2 Duos are outdated now. It also depends on whether you have got your own keyboard, mouse and display. If you have, and you're happy to use them, the Mac Mini will probably save you a bit of cash.

1- Is it worth doing an SSD optibay upgrade? I figure it will cost me around 350 bucks, which is a almost a 3rd of an Air. Thoughts?

I've done the following once a week on all the laptops we have here, without worry:
-Rubbing alcohol on old washcloth. Takes care of case, keyboard, touchpad, wrist area. Don't saturate the washcloth; just enough to dampen it, then wipe all the surfaces except screen.
-Eyeglass cleaner from drugstore for display. Comes in small spray bottle. Use it with a microfiber cloth for the display. Same as with rubbing alcohol; just enough to dampen the cloth, then wipe display.
Enjoy.

hey,
so, we're going to be running some macTV ads over the next few weeks, and i thought instead of just linking to our iTunes listing or our plain website, some mini-promos would be cool.
i've come up with a prototype here: http://www.watchmactv.com/specials/coldplay/
what do you guys think? we aren't going to do this for every video..just some hand picked ones that we think people will like.
mm, anyway, i just wanted some opinons on the creative side. i think it gets the job done nicely (the page) but it is a little tall..there's not too much i can do about that..is the subscribe button clear enough?
like i said, i'd appreciate any opinions you may have.. :)

Smalldog lists the their used iMac (with the same specs as mine except mine has more ram) at $800. $1000 may be high but that's why this is just a feeler. I do have some additional software but my son destroyed the discs (love my 1year old!!) I have dmg. of a few of the programs. I realize though that I can't list them on this forum.

Install darwinports (make sure you update .profile to include $PATH:/opt/local/bin and stuff like that) and simply do `sudo port install screen', then
screen command-line-app
and simply close the window. if you want to check on it later, simply type in `screen -r'.
Ctrl-C while in the session to kill it. Useful for other things like irssi, compiling things in the background that will take a while, etc.

I have a pair of these now too, and highly recommend them. I had a pair of Shure e3c's that bit the dust, and used the $79 apple in-ears for a while after that, but these are by far the best.

I just got my iPhone replaced under warranty. As per Apple's new policy, the Genuis updated the replacement phone to 1.1.1, rendering it less useful to me.
The iPhone comes with the original box and accessories, along with the documentation from the replacement (for warranty purposes).
I'm interested in trading for a 16GB iPod touch, or possibly selling outright.

i have one and their color clarity and crispness is better than the new cinema displays and is definetely one of the best on the market. Recommended.
I need to buy a monitor for a powerbook and saw a few companies selling new, in the box 17" Apple Studio Displays online. The price is about $450. I have always loved the look of that monitor, but am wondering how well they stack up with today's monitors. In addition, I believe for the same price I could get 19" - so I am torn. Any advice? :confused:

It's worth about $15. In ten years maybe $10.
In thirty years, if it still works and you can find some packaging for it (Original is best) - You might get $300 or so for it (Thats what decent nick 20year old rare models go for now, so since yours isnt particularly rare, thats what Id expect its max price to be if it was fully functional at 40something
