I applied without medicals for myself, my wife and my son. I got everything except AP. Did the FP one week back.
I applied without the medical for my wife, my son and me and I already received my receipts and EAD almost one month ago. My wife and my AP show an LUD yesterday and today but still pending but my son didn't show anything. USCIS received my application on August 14.
I hope this can help.

Today I got a CRIS mail ,that my already approved I 140 got a status
Current Status: Case Transfered to Another Office for Processing.
On July 20, 2009, we transferred this case I140 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER to our LINCOLN, NE location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow the instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 to update your address. You can use our processing dates to estimate when your case may be processed by following the link below. This is my Previous employer's I 140approved in jan 2006, I transfered the PD .Any thing is wrong. I am so scared . I was laid off from April. Till now I did not get any Job.

My opinion:
Well, can the Java Programmer walk the ramp and pull it off like a professional model? Their work is a lot harder than it appears on the outside taking into account the success rate among models. Considering that even school kids can write excellent java programs, if we still want to consider the Java programmer as "highly skilled", then so are models.
Giselle Bundchen is worth half a billion dollars or somewhere in that range.
Btw, I am in the programming line myself in case someone thinks I have a problem with programmers. But I wouldn't mind swapping places with a successful model ;)

Can an H-4 visa holder living in the US work for an Indian employer via Internet? Can he use this experience while transferring to H-1B?
To acquire an H-1B visa, all work experience must be live work experience. Work over the Internet is not considered live experience as defined by the H-1B application process.
In addition, it is against immigration rules to work in any form or manner on an H-4 visa. The immigration rules clearly state that H-4 holders can only do voluntary work.

I want to alert you to a bad experience with UPS over an international shipment and suggest you ship Fedex or DHL especially if shipping time-sensitive immigration docs. If you have any further questions pls PM me.
I mailed a 'guaranteed delivery' package containing immigration docs to Mumbai from Tucson, AZ. I wanted this package to reach at a particular date because of a time-sensitive processing required on part of my family in India. It was mailed through a UPS store in Tucson.
The problems:
1. The package was delayed by 2 business days, screwing me and my family - cancelled airplane tickets, missed appointments, cascading delay for further processing.
2. I am having trouble getting a refund even though I am eligible for it. The UPS store refuses to issue a refund saying that "there is no guaranteed international shipment' ever. This is after the fact that UPS shipping confirms that I am eligible for a refund, but it has to be processed through the store. So, basically, I am caught between the UPS store and UPS shipping.
Lesson learned:
1. Dont ship UPS
2. Even if you ship UPS, dont ship it through a UPS Store
Based on my discussions in the recent couple of days, Fedex may be a better option. In fact I FEDEX'ed duplicate copies of the paperwork 3 business days later and they were delivered on the same day as the UPS package!!! Never tried DHL so cant say anything.

i was on a vacation and boarded from australia....it was a unique situation....when i left my PP was valid for 7 months when i came back it was valid for 5 months....

1) My lawyer says we file for a petition that typically asks for forgiveness so that i dont get a 3 yr bar. dont know what that petition is called but it translates as "now for then". [can only be prepared by a lawyer and would cost me $1000]
2)I spoke to an immigration officer and he said it is a very common mistake and most of the times they just question the person and let them go. he said not to worry abt the 3 yr bar. he also said that the 3 yr and 10yr bar is more for the tourist visas where people actually think they have a 10yr visa so they can stay here for 10 yrs.
And yes like watzgc he also said file for extention I-539 i think.[costs only $300, anyone can fill it out and send it to USCIS]
now lets see if my lawyer will go with what she thinks is right or will she go with what the immigration officer thinks needs to be done.
I also think that these lawyers try to scare us and get all fancy things done so that they can charge as much as they feel like.

I sent back a new I-693 form along with TB testresult (thru USPS). USCIS received the document on 08/14.
Today (08/15), I got a mail with contents
"Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case
processing has resumed"
Do you have any idea, how long it will take to approve the 485 after they receive the RFE documents.
Do they still continue to approve the cases after Aug 17th?
